ARC Lower Bucks County Chapter Job Description

Director, Emergency Shelters                               Status (Full Time (40 hours) Exempt)

Job Responsibilities: 
Provide leadership and direction to all Emergency Services and Homeless Shelter staff. Develop and monitor the Departmental budgets and maintain a safe and secure facility; assuring compliance with all federal, state and local requirements.

General Tasks:

  1. Act as community, government and partnering agency ambassador.  Attend and participate, as needed, related meetings and events.
  2. Meet regularly with Director, Homeless Shelter Program and Director Emergency Services to oversee daily activities.
  3. Work with staff and volunteer leadership to develop budget recommendations, monitor revenue and expenses and identify additional revenue sources.
  4. Team with Chief Executive Officer, Grant Office and Financial Development department to insure the continued financial success of the Emergency Services and Homeless Shelter programs.
  5. Work with staff and volunteer leadership to provide information to the Public Relations department to increase program visibility and provide data and information for internal reporting, newsletters, etc.
  6. Develop evaluate, interpret and disseminate program outcomes.
  7. Attend beyond-the-chapter meetings/conferences in support of Shelter programs and Emergency services.
  8. Act as staff support to the Emergency Services Committee & Shelter Advisory Committee and provide appropriate information.
  9. Maintain current First Aid, CPR, AED and Introduction to Disaster certifications.
  10. Other duties as assigned.
  11. Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years supervisory/management experience.
Exceptional communication, writing, presentation, budgeting and financial skills.
Demonstrate strong supervisory and team-building skills and Computer skills. 
Must be available for evening and weekend assignments, including disaster assignments.
