Lower Bucks County Chapter Responds to Single Family Home Fire
Levittown, PA, 10-9-2007 – The Lower Bucks County Chapter of the American Red Cross responded to a single-family home fire in the 4000 block of Spruce Avenue in Trevose on October 9, 2007. The Disaster Response Team provided emergency assistance in the form of food, clothing, infant supplies, bedding/linens and comfort items. Members of the community who wish to help can make a tax-deductible donation to the Lower Bucks County Chapter and take action to prevent and prepare for home fires in the community.
“We’re deeply saddened for the affected family”, said Kathleen Marsh, CEO of the Lower Bucks Chapter. “As we continue to work with those involved, we’d also like to help others take action to prevent and prepare for disasters throughout the Lower Bucks County area.”
This was the seventh fire the Chapter has responded to since July. So far the Lower Bucks County Chapter has provided 10 families with immediate emergency assistance at an approximate cost of $10,000. The Red Cross depends on the generous support of Lower Bucks residents to be ready to respond and help our neighbors who are affected by home fires.
The American Red Cross Lower Bucks County Chapter is where people mobilize to help their neighbors prepare for, prevent, and respond to life’s emergencies. Governed by volunteers and supported by community donations, the American Red Cross Lower Bucks County Chapter is dedicated to saving and improving lives. Led by over 1,300 volunteers, the Red Cross annually mobilizes relief to over 700 disaster victims, trains almost 18,000 people in lifesaving skills, exchanges more than one hundred emergency messages for U.S. military service personnel and their families, and collects nearly 12,000 pints of blood for local hospitals. The American Red Cross Lower Bucks County Chapter also has the country’s only 24-hour homeless shelter that serves over 300 people and children each year. The Red Cross is the largest supplier of blood and blood products in the area and also assists victims of international disasters and conflicts at locations worldwide.
