Only 5% of the eligible population donates blood.
Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood or blood products.
Each year, more than four million Americans need blood transfusions.
40,000 blood donors are needed each day throughout the United States. Approximately 1,100 donors are needed daily to serve hospital patients in the Delaware Valley.
The Penn-Jersey Region of the American Red Cross provides blood too nearly 100 hospitals.
People can donate every 56 days. Your body replaces white cells and platelets in a few days, the red cells in about 6 weeks.
The average chemotherapy program requires products from 800 donations. Cancer treatments use the largest percent of the blood supply
