Helping people worldwide

The American Red Cross is a member of a global network of Red Cross, Red Crescent and equivalent societies providing relief to the world's vulnerable people. Guided by our seven Fundamental Principles — Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality — the American Red Cross partners with countless organizations in the efficient and effective relief of human suffering and the empowerment of people with the skills they need to help themselves.

Locally we provide social services to help locate missing loved ones in times of war, conflict or disaster. We are here to bridge the communication gap and reunite families.

Internationally, The American Red Cross has developed six areas of expertise:

international

  • Emergency Disaster Response
  • Primary Health Care Programs
  • Food Programming
  • Tracing and Red Cross Messages
  • Helping Our Red Cross Partners
  • Dissemination of International Humanitarian Law

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, providing relief without discrimination.
